RANCHI: Apparently keeping the polls in view, the Vikas Mahotsava was launched in the capital on Saturday.
Assets worth Rs 400 crore were distributed among villagers under Swarnajayanti Gram Swarojgar Yojna (SGSY).
Senior BJP leaders including chief minister Arjun Munda, welfare minister Ramesh Singh Munda, land and revenue minister Madhu Singh, commercial tax minister Ramji Lal Sharda, finance minister Mrigendra Singh Pandey, rural engineering organisation minister Nilkhant Munda and legislator Ramji Lal Sharda were present in the programme, organised by the district administration.
Inaugurating the programme, Munda said the mahotsav has been organised with a view to bring about an overall development and to improve the economy of the state, so that Jharkhand can have a substantial contribution in the nations development. For this, it is necessary to make the villages economically independent.Munda also exhorted the farmers, students and other beneficiaries to make the best use of assets such as tractors, pump sets and cycles distributed to them.
"You should take a vow that you would not only utilise the assets to improve your economic condition, but you would also improve your production so that the states economy improves," he said.
He also said he would ensure that villagers are not only get given the required assets but also get proper training.
